Germany’s first ever 3D-printed house was recently opened in the North Rhine-Westphalian town of Beckum. The floor in the innovative building was sourced from local manufacturer MEISTERWERKE.

The innovative Lindura wood flooring from MEISTER was chosen for the living areas and bedrooms in the recently opened first 3D-printed house in Germany, which was built entirely using 3D printing technology. The two-storey detached house with around 160 square metres of living space was not built using conventional means, but printed by the company PERI using a 3D concrete printer. The building was designed by a local engineering and architectural firm on behalf of Hous3Druck GmbH. “We are delighted that our most innovative flooring, Lindura, has been used in this pioneering house of the future,” explains Guido Schulte, Managing Director of MEISTERWERKE.

Minimal walls meet natural floors
The high-tech wood flooring, in the naturally oiled, rustic oak variant, is a perfect fit for the innovative house: the indent-resistant wood surface has a warm, natural effect and strikes a pleasant contrast with the minimalistic style of the deliberately unplastered concrete walls, which have a unique, layered structure. The aesthetic effect of the large-format planks (2600 x 320 mm) plays out to its full extent on both floors. The Lindura wood flooring was laid in a floating installation. Thanks to its patented click system, there is no need for gluing. Meanwhile, MEISTER sound-absorbing underlay provides the corresponding sound insulation.

Lindura: Made with wood powder technology
Lindura is produced using wood powder technology. Wood powder is a fine powder made of wood fibres and mineral components, which is melted into the real wood covering layer to create an extremely durable surface. This innovative technology transforms natural wood flooring into durable high-tech wood flooring that withstands even heavy use. Lindura scores points for sustainability too: thanks to the wood powder, a thinner wood layer that consumes fewer resources can be used to create the durable surface than is possible on other parquet or wood flooring. Lindura can be laid in a floating installation, is suitable for renovations and can be installed over underfloor heating. Lindura wood flooring is available with a naturally oiled or matt lacquered finish, in many different oak and walnut wood tones.
