High-tech floors built to last

Bjelin’s latest range of hardened wood floors features updated and improved colours, formats, surface treatments – and also, technologies.

In 2016, Bjelin was founded by Darko Pervan, the Swedish-Croatian inventor and entrepreneur who developed the first mechanical floor locking system and set up innovations company, Välinge Innovation. This system has been updated, and Bjelin’s entire 3.0 range now features the leakproof 5G® Dry™.

The 5G® Dry™ locking system, which requires no glue or nails when installing the floors, is still simple to use – just click the panels together – but it now also has a water-tight joint that prevents water from seeping through the seams of the panels and damaging the subfloor.

Bjelin’s hardened wood floors are also empowered by another ground-breaking technology by Välinge Innovation, Woodura®, which makes the floors three times stronger than traditional wood floors. The Woodura® process involves a thin sheet of wood being fused onto a wood fibre core through a powder mix layer, creating a 100% real wood floor that’s also water- and dent-resistant.

This core, a high-density and moisture resistant Välinge Compositek wood core minimises the risk of swelling and further ensures the floors can easily withstand the wear and tear of everyday life.

The Woodura® technology doesn’t just make floors harder and more durable, it's also a more environmentally friendly way of producing floors. The thin sheets of wood allow the company to create 10 times more flooring from each log, and waste is recycled to create more wood powder for the process.

Aesthetically pleasing details

After the Woodura® hardening process, the surface is treated and thereby allowing for different surfaces to be created. For example, the surface can be brushed to create a real wooden feel but with an added lacquer that makes it easier to maintain. This floor is exceptionally comfortable to walk on. Moreover, our latest award-winning matt lacquer has top-level durability and is therefore ideal for heavy-traffic residential and commercial areas. This is a perfect surface treatment for a hotel, restaurant, office or shop.

Another advantage is that hardened wood floors can be created in wide XL and XXL planks while still being thin. Apart from the pleasing design aspect, this simplifies both the handling and the installation. And while these wide planks are popular, the company has also released smaller panel sizes to maximise the use of wood, and to allow customers to be more creative. For example, wide planks might be installed in a living room, while smaller panels – in the same colour and surface – are used in a bedroom.

The beautiful, Scandinavian-designed range is ideal for the modern household since it’s both water- and dent-resistant. No more dents from high heels, toys or dropped objects. And since the floors use the leakproof 5G® Dry™ floor locking system, there is no reason to worry about spills.

Sourcing European wood

Hardened wood floors are a popular choice due to their durability, especially when they’re empowered by ground-breaking technologies that make them truly long-lasting.

To keep up with demand, Bjelin produces floors in high-end factories in both Sweden and Croatia, where the company has access to FSC-certified wood from the famous Spacva forest. The company has always aimed to be self-sufficient and is therefore in charge of its own production chain.

These floors, with their super-strength, versatile surface treatments and fresh designs can be enjoyed for generations.
